Season 6
de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver
Reg. C-FOCJ de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver c/n 39 built in 1948. Was CF-OCJ from March 1949 until 1964. Just before 1970, changed to C-FOCJ.
Registered on 27 December 1984 to Harbour Air Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia.
On Tuesday 4 August 1998, after three approaches, on touchdown of the fourth one, the DHC-2 skipped on the water, then the float(s) struck the water and caused a flying attitude that the pilot could not control before the right wing dug in and was severed from the fuselage on water impact. The aircraft overturned and came to rest inverted with only the bottom of the floats visible. Several members of the Kincolith village community, who had been waiting for the aircraft on the Government Dock, rushed to the sunken aircraft in small boats but were unable to rescue the pilot or passengers inside the submerged cabin. All five aboard were drowned. Contributing to the accident were conflicting wind and water conditions at the time of the occurrence.
After a long and slow rebuilt with several airframe modification (extra windows, tail...) the airframe could fly again at an unknown date (later of 2004) still as C-FOCJ. Changed to C-FFHA in October 2016 with a brand new red paint (for the nose and tail with a giant maple leaf between them) but still for Harbour Air.
On Saturday 8 June 2024, the Beaver with 1 pilot and 5 passengers on board hurt a small boat with 1 driver and 7 passengers on board. The floats were torn away and the DHC-2 ditched. Passengers evacuate successfully helped by the boat. Two boat passengers sustained serious injuries. The aircraft eventually sunk.

Ep. S6E15 Flying Blind
Reg. C-FOSP de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver. Found data about (another ?) a DHC-2 flying for Harbour Air recently (2022) but with several differences : not the same engine cowling and tail; extra windows. As Canadian registry entries could be used several times for different airframes through times, not sure this is for the actual floatplane. Moreover, another source about the same (?) aircraft explains the 1962-built aircraft "was sold to Harbour Air in 1984, the aircraft was operated by Inland Air Charters in 2013 before returning to Harbour Air in January 2019". The picture taken in 1980 diplays a third configuration... So what ?
